Elizabeth Forward Helps Save the Planet!

It began with an introduction by Dylan (shown above), an 11th grader, who served as the assembly's MC. Afterward, the TFIM team performed a skit written by member, Skylar, which highlighted the importance of recycling. Then- the part the entire 6th grade had been waiting for...the competitions.

Homerooms came prepared with "contestants" to participate in different recycling games: Newspaper Stack, Rusty Can Relay, Scavenger Hunt, and Blindfold It. Each 6th grader was asked to participate in one of the games. Points were tallied for each homeroom after the games. The winning homeroom received a school supply kit filled with pens, pencils, erasers, note pads, etc. They also received glow-in-the-dark bracelets. At the conclusion of each game, the participants were to recycle their materials.

At the end of the assembly, each homeroom received an official Elizabeth Township recycling bin to place in their homeroom. Until the end of the year, they are to recycle aluminum and plastic. Each Wednesday, TFIM students will go down, count, and record their homerooms' progress. The homeroom with the most recycled material come the end of the year will receive a TFIM sponsored pizza party! So far- the response has been overwhelming. The 6th graders are really taking their recycling seriously! We have been asked to make this an annual project!
