Steel Valley's Turkey Bowl

Student organizers Mike, TFIM President, Devin, and Kevin were imperative to the success of the event. They were able to secure various donations from local establishments as incentives for students to participate.

Steel Valley's The Future Is Mine would like to thank the following local establishments for donations: Eat 'N Park, Red Robin, Damons, Fridays, Yokoso, Chic-Fil-A, and Italian Village Pizza for all donating to ensure the event was a success.

The Future Is Mine will present Parkview Towers with the donation on Monday, November 23rd from 5-8pm. In addition to the donation, Steel Valley students will spend time with the seniors and play bingo. "It's important to give back to the community," said Mike, "I'm glad I could play such a major role in this projects organization."

A special thanks to Mr. Ben Lander, Mr. Ray Braszo, Ms. Amy Guskey, Mr. Shawn McCallister, Mrs. Christina Szott, and Mr. Rick Owston for supporting the event by either Monetary Donations or service at the event. Mr. Meade also played a HUGE role in the event's success by volunteering as the official for the game.

Also, as a follow-up, on November 23rd, the SV TFIM team completed phase 2 of their Turkey Bowl! Eleven members traveled to Parkview Towers, senior citizen high rise, located on Main Street in Munhall and participated in Bingo with approximately 35 seniors. While there, Mike, TFIM President, presented the Director with the $185 check to be used in their activities department. All money was raised through the November 19th Turkey Bowl held at Campbell Field.

Complete with cookies and intense rounds of BINGO, both the senior citizens and high school students had a great experience. ?When can we do this again?? asked TFIM member Mike. ?It was really cool to spend time with the seniors, I look forward to the next experience,? said Nick. ?I?m really proud of these students,? said Advisor, Ryan Dunmire, ?They worked really hard and had such a passion to give back to the elderly. The service was a great success.?
